Holding Space

We are delighted to be working with Imaginate to offer a disabled artist professional mentoring.

Holding Space is a mentoring programme for artists and freelancers working in the young audiences sector in Scotland.  Imaginate are now looking for mentees who would like to have paid sessions with an artistic mentor to explore a specific area of practice.  Each selected mentee will be offered up to five sessions with a mentor that can be arranged any time between October 2021 and August 2022, with a fee of £400 for the mentee to cover their time.

As this is artistic mentoring, Imaginate are looking for freelancers with an artistic practice within theatre and dance and who have a specific area or question they would like to explore with a mentor. This could encompass those who create performances, playwrights or those involved in any aspect of the creative process such as sound designers or costume designers.

Imaginate are working in partnership with Birds of Paradise Theatre, Solar Bear and Bijli Productions to ensure the programme is open to artists across the sector.  We have a budget to cover access including BSL, captioning and child care costs, both for any pre-application discussions and to participate in the mentoring.  The seletion panel will consist of three artists and industry colleagues – Briana Pegado, Eoin McKenzie and Priyanka Jha.

Applications for this opportunity are now closed.

Holding Place is supported by the PLACE programme, funded by the Scottish Government, the City of Edinburgh Council and the Edinburgh Festivals, and supported and administered by Creative Scotland.
