Alison Peebles has had a celebrated career as an actor. She was a co-founder of Communicado Theatre Company where she created iconic roles e.g. Carmen (Carmen The Play); The Bride (Blood Wedding) and Elizabeth (Mary Queen of Scots Got Her Head Chopped Off). She has worked for many theatres in Scotland and throughout the UK including the Royal National Theatre, Old Vic, Donmar Warehouse, Young Vic and The Bush Theatre. She played Inez de Castro at the Traverse Theatre which was the inspiration of James MacMillan’s Opera and played Lady Macbeth opposite Iain Glen in Michael Boyd’s acclaimed production. Other theatre includes Happy Days (Dundee Rep), Sub Rosa (Fire Exit/Citizens’ Theatre) and Doubt (The Tron). Recent TV was Lip Service and River City. Alison has directed many productions for theatre, radio and film including the first production for National Theatre of Scotland – Home (Aberdeen). Other directing credits include Mary Queen of Scots got her Head Chopped Off (NTS); The Steamie, Dirty Paradise (Tron Theatre); Panic Patterns (Citizens’ Theatre) and the award-winning Feature Film AfterLife. She has directed many short films including a documentary, Multiple, about her life with MS.
