Emma Lynne Harley is a Scottish multi-hyphenate artist. They are a director, maker, performer and writer of new theatre, and cabaret creative and singer who has worked across Scotland, the UK, and internationally for the last decade. Their work is strongly rooted in social justice and amplifying the hidden magic within the everyday. They are known for genre-melding work that centres LGBTQ+ stories, gender, health, and personal, political, and social histories. She is a lover of science-fiction, magical realism, dark comedy, and music.

They are a Lyceum L20 alum, inaugural Theatre Maker Placement with Company of Wolves, recipient of the Dewar Arts Award, and co-director of award-winning, genre defying theatre company Siren Theatre. She trained at Queen Margaret University, was the first Scottish student to attend the National Theater Institute (USA), and holds qualifications in sound production and design from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the Academy of Music and Sound.

 As a director, Emma has worked on a number of productions, including Jennie Lee: Tomorrow is a New Day (Knights Theatre, OnFife); Lost in Music (Magnetic North, Scottish Tour); Mark Ravenhill’s world debut of Angela (Lyceum Sound Stage, Pitlochry Theatre and BBC Radio 4); Ness by Hannah McGregor (Sanctuary Queer Arts, A Play, A Pie and A Pint); Louder at the Traverse Theatre (Framework Theatre);  For Better, For Worse by Jill Franklin (Edinburgh Fringe, Offie Award Shortlisted); Sex, Drugs and a Cup of Tea by herself.

Other credits include: TXT ME: Cyber Showcase and Online Protest (Writer and Performer; Siren Theatre and The Gaiety, Winner of “Best Production”, Scottish Emerging Theatre Awards); Sex, Drugs, and a Cup of Tea (Writer and Director; Edinburgh Fringe); The Last Days of Mankind (Performer; Leith Theatre, TheaterLabor), In the Light of Day (Performer; Scottish Tour). They are currently developing  their new play with songs, Cradle to Grave: The Other Neverland, about the NHS based on hospital archives (supported by Creative Scotland, East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure, and the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians Glasgow).
