Zoë Hunter is a performer/writer/director. She trained at Central School of Speech and Drama in London, studied law at Glasgow University and has a background in devised theatre. She was a member of Brighton based Unpacked Theatre Company, producing and touring their work for a decade. Pursuing her passion for film, her first feature script, HEAVY, was supported by the BellRock screenwriting programme. She completed the NFTS John Yorke Screenwriter’s Academy in 2024. Zoë is also proud to present her first feature project as director, Dark Soul (a film for the ears). The film, which is aimed at making film and cinema more accessible for those with visual impairment, won a Torc Award for Excellence at the 2024 Celtic Media Festival. In 2025 she was lead artist and producer for sell out show Bethlehem Calling at Celtic Connections 2025.

As an actress, Zoë has performed with, amongst others, National Theatre of Scotland, BBC, Blazing Griffin, The Edinburgh Royal Lyceum and many more. She has appeared in numerous short films working with the London Film School, London Met, SFTN etc. She received an Offie nomination for her role as Whiplash Mary in wrestling comedy Lardo and starred in CBBC’s Scottish BAFTA winning Last Commanders. Last year she starred in one woman show Jocasta for Play, Pie and a Pint and co-created and performed in Visible Fiction’s critically acclaimed show UP which was a hit at the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe.
