BOP are seeking a freelance Producer for our works-in-progress event: New Ground – Access in Process. New Ground is a development project and sharing event. This project has been created to give disabled artists the opportunity to explore creating new work with Creatively Embedded Access*.

The producer will be responsible for producing the work-in-progress event on Saturday 21st November, which will consist of three 20-minute performances with feedback sessions and networking time. The event will be held at The Boardwalk in central Glasgow, where BOP also has an office space.

In addition to producing the overall event, the producer will work to support two New Ground works-in-progress which have been selected for this opportunity. The third work-in-progress by BOP Young Artists will be produced mainly through the BOP core staff team. 

BOP particularly encourages and will prioritise applications from disabled applicants, but it is not a requirement. 

*Creatively Embedded Access is the practice of embedding access support such as captions, sign language interpretation, audio description and relaxed principles into performance work. The access becomes part of the art.

Job Details

• Dates: 19th Oct – 11th Dec 2026
• Fee: £2,400 based on 12 days at £200. This is a fixed-term freelance post and you are responsible for your own tax.
• Hours: Varying. Flexible hours required. Some evenings and weekends required.  
• Location: Glasgow. Hybrid working is possible, but the producer will need to work in person in Glasgow during the production period of 20th and 21st November. 

What You’ll Do (Job Description)

• Produce the Scratch Night: New Ground – Access in Process event. 
• Work with BOP to ensure the smooth delivery of all aspects of this event.  This will include:
  • Access support for audiences (including co-ordination of sign language interpretation, captions etc. as required).
  • Coordinating with partners, including the host venue. 
  • Coordinating with BOP on marketing and evaluation.
  • In partnership with BOP provide access support for artists. 
• Support three new works in progress to be shared at the event:
  • BOP Young Artists work-in-progress 
  • 2 new works-in-progress (see opportunity here)

Example Tasks

• Work with artists to support the delivery of their artistic vision as part of sharing.
• Managing admin systems – project timelines, schedules, trackers.
• Working with BOP on supporting the access requirements of the artists involved.
• Monitoring and reporting on budget, financial systems.
• Supporting BOP producers with contracting – contract drafting, trackers.
• Communication with the creative team and production team.
• Liaising with the host venue and partners.
• Organising, facilitating and minuting meetings including production meetings.
• Support the creation of marketing copy, social media posts, and website updates.
• Devising accessible methods to collect feedback during work-in-progress event.
• Work within and manage delegated budgets.
• Support project evaluation for instance gathering feedback or preparing collation of data such as ticket sales
• Accommodation, travel and logistics bookings if required.
• Ensuring logistics and working environments in line with company policies and agreements with unions.

What We’re Looking For (Person Specification)

Essential:

• A minimum of 3 years experience of producing events or managing projects of a similar type.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Confidence in communicating in a range of settings – from team meetings to 1:1 planning and support.
• Experience working within and managing budgets.
• A flexible and creative attitude.
• Experience working with a wide range of people, including supporting individual access requirements.
• Strong project management skills including working with multiple partners.
• Highly organised and adept at managing own workload.
• Good working knowledge of the arts sector in Scotland.
• A strong interest in accessible arts.

Desirable:

• Experience of working with accessibility practices.
• An understanding of disability arts.
• Marketing experience.
• Driver’s license.
