A live policy co-design project, with an aim of shaping new cultural policy for the Mexican state of Jalisco, through an innovative, participatory citizen-led approach.

Innovation for Culture (Innovación para la Cultura) was collaboratively run by British Council Mexico and Cultura Jalisco, and supported by STBY, Aura Cultura, Birds of Paradise and Public Policy Lab.

From January to May 2021, the programme worked closely with a working group 30 people from various backgrounds (and more people in a less intense manner) to explore the issues with the current cultural policy in Jalisco, and work together to establish new ways forward.

BOP’s role was to advise on Disability Equality throughout the process: delivering Disability Equality Training the project team; feeding back about the accessibility of the tasks assigned to the working group; feeding into policy discussions with from a disabled person’s perspective; advising about accessible design of publications.
