Susan Douglas-Scott CBE is a highly experienced leader with an impressive career spanning the disability, health, public, and charity sectors. She has held various prominent positions, including serving as CEO of national organisations, Board Chair of large public sector boards, and executive roles in national charities. Currently, Susan is the Board Chair of NHS Golden Jubilee, a position that underscores her commitment to public health and well-being. In May 2025, she further expanded her contributions by becoming Chair of the National Care Service Interim Advisory Board.

Passion for the Arts

Susan’s lifelong love for the arts is evident in her active involvement in musical theatre, choirs, and plays since the age of seven. She is currently a member of the European Queer Choir, preparing to perform at a European Festival in 2026. Her role as a trustee with Indepen-dance, a dance charity, combines her passion for the arts with her advocacy for inclusive opportunities. She serves on the board and also enjoys participating in dance classes, making this engagement both professional and personal.

Her recent appointment as Board Chair of Birds of Paradise Theatre Company marks a significant milestone. Susan has been a long-time supporter of this pioneering inclusive theatre group and is excited to contribute to their vibrant mission. Birds of Paradise has been instrumental in promoting disability rights through creative approaches, and Susan’s leadership is set to amplify their impact.

Personal Life

Outside of her professional roles, Susan enjoys a fulfilling life with her partner Gerrie. With their five children now grown up, they cherish time spent with their dogs, cat, and each other, engaging in activities such as cooking, reading, singing, dancing, crafting, travelling, and socialising with family and friends. Her personal life reflects the same joy, inclusivity, and curiosity that define her professional pursuits.
